A response to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu: Re: Yar’adua, save the nation from imminent crisis, hand over to VP Jonathan

January 18, 2010

Our sagacious and much cherished Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu appears to have moved a sturdy and convincing intrinsic motion in the mould of our extant political circumstance. I conversely refused to be enthused as it seems that our Asiwaju is deliberately oblivious of the in-built bobby traps and the opinionated hurdles that have been deviously and impishly built into the Nigeria political scenery.

For clarity of my uninitiated position, I enjoined a quick recall of the recent events surrounding the health voyage of President YarÁdua to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the last himrah which provided a good and better smokescreen for the voyage but the Presidency chooses to come out clean on the clear objective of Mr. President’s appointment to Mohammedan state.

However, in a surprising move, the President's aide on National Assembly matters seemingly withheld the President's letter of his vacation to the National Assembly and which the letter was never delivered.

Last week again, due to hues and cries of civil societies and respected colleagues of our Asiwaju, the President in a laborious comportment, craving the entire world to appreciate his state of affairs, informed the us via a more credible and untainted media, that he is sick, incapacitated and has left his presidential duties and will only resume upon his God’s benevolence and his doctors' permit.

Despite the above constitutional activation of Section 145 by the President, the consequence devolvement of Presidential power to the Vice President as Acting President is yet to take off till date while judicial cram has been mounted against the constitutional imperatives.

The question, our Asiwaju’s pleadings raised, is whether there is any other channel by which a resignation letter of the President will be communicated to the National Assembly other than through the same Legislative aide and a few thieving cabals that are used to hiding under the name, the North, to hoodwink and hold 150 million citizens of this great country in their jugular.

If there is no other channel, then we need no soothsayer to tell us what will happen to the much-sought President's resignation letter.

As it is, all we need to be agitating for is the removal of the conspired court wedge, full compliance with the constitutional provision in the circumstance of the President’s situation and not the expired communion persuasions and permutations that have been throwing the then giant, next heart of Africa and presently the great nation of good people in pathetic and abysmal trench in the comity of Nations.

It is my humble believe that it’s the fundamentals of the organs of our government, instilled by honour, service and patriotism and persuaded by our statutes and superior point of views that will be used to haul the country from the our present foxhole and clear all the real and imaginary impediments against full activation of our constitutional provisions that will maintain and promote the belief that all people are, in principle, equal and should enjoy equal social, political, and economic rights and opportunities.

Let us not allow ourselves to be fooled a second time.
